In a world that moves at the speed of a notification, there is something deeply grounding about a fabric that takes its time. When we talk about 100% French Flax Linen, we aren’t just talking about bedding; we are talking about a relationship with the earth that spans thousands of years. The quiet magic of French flax – this natural fibre is extraordinary.

But what exactly is it, and why does it feel so different from anything else you’ve ever slept in?

It Begins in the Soil

French flax is a resilient plant that thrives in the specific climate of Northern France. It is a crop of “minimal intervention” it needs very little other than natural rainfall and the richness of European soil to grow.

Unlike some other thirsty fabrics – cotton and bamboo, flax is one of the most sustainable fabrics. Every part of the plant is used, leaving nothing behind but a legacy of earth-born quality.

The Extraordinary “Exhale”

What makes French flax truly extraordinary isn’t just a technical specification – it’s a feeling.

The Weight of Stillness – linen has a specific “heft” to it. It isn’t flimsy or floaty; it has a grounded weight that feels like a gentle hug, helping your nervous system signal that it’s time to rest.

The Breath of Life – the molecular structure of the flax fibre is hollow, making it a natural stand-out of temperature control. It breathes with you- wicking away moisture in the heat and insulating your body’s natural warmth when it’s cool. It’s the ultimate sanctuary for those who sleep hot and find themselves tossing and turning.

The Beauty of the “Undone”- perhaps the most extraordinary thing about linen is its defiance of perfection. While other fabrics look “messy” when wrinkled, linen looks organic. It embraces the creases of a long night’s sleep, proving that the most beautiful things in life are often the ones that are slightly undone.

An Heirloom in the Making

Most things we buy today are designed to be replaced. French flax is designed to be kept.

Because the fibres are significantly thicker and longer than cotton, linen is incredibly durable. But here is the secret: it actually gets better with age. Every wash breaks down the natural pectins in the fibre, making it softer, more supple, and more lived-in. It doesn’t wear out; it wears in.

Raw. Real. Relaxed.

Choosing French flax is an invitation to slow down. It’s a tactile reminder that slow living and returning to the basics – the texture of a naturally soft fibre against skin and the comfort of sleeping in bedding that is naturally breathable in it’s purist form – is so important to our well-being.

Our Naturally Natural linen is the “true” shade of the flax plant. Depending on the sun and rain of the growing season, the colour may shift slightly between lighter and darker shades. We love this – it’s the fingerprint of nature on your bed.

Every year, trends around home styling shifts. Some ideas fade, others evolve, and a few stick around because they genuinely work. So, what’s in and what’s out in interior styling in 2026?

For anyone interested in interiors and interested in freshening the look and feel of their space, understanding what trends are currently in and what’s out can help with thinking and planning on how to freshen a space and help to ensure the space feels more intentional.

Here’s a snapshot of what’s trending now in interior styling and what stylists are starting to move away from.

Concept 1

What’s Out – ultra-minimal surfaces with nothing on them

What’s In – warm, layered texture

Layers of texture that feel lived in and tactile.

Clean lines still matter, but empty or stark spaces are giving way to warmth and dimension. Think woven textiles, linen, carved wood, plaster finishes, natural fibres, and tactile objects that cue comfort without clutter.

Styling tip: Pair a smooth sofa with a selection of linen and chunky textile cushions, rattan accents, and a low-pile wool rug.

Concept 2

What’s Out – matchy sets of decorative items

What’s In – personal objects with meaning

Curated pieces with story, memory, or personal significance.

Generic décor used to be safe – today it’s forgettable. Stylists are encouraging homes filled with objects that mean something: heirlooms, handmade ceramics, travel finds, art with a personal connection.

Comfort, nostalgia, and texture are prominent

Styling tip: Display a small collection of objects you truly love rather than rows of identical candles or vases.

Concept 3

What’s Out – all-white everywhere

What’s In – rich colour with restraint

Muted gems, terracotta, sage, moody blues and earthy neutrals

White walls still have a place, but stylists are pushing beyond stark minimalism. Walls in warm neutrals or restrained colour, anchored by natural light and balanced with neutral furniture, feel fresh and grounded.

Styling tip: Try a warm neutral backdrop – it can help make textiles and art feel more intentional.

Concept 4

What’s Out – rigid lines and overly angular furniture

What’s In – organic shapes and soft curves

Curved sofas, rounded tables, and arched mirrors add a sense of flow and ease.

Soft geometry feels less rigid and more welcoming, particularly when mixed with straight lines for balance.

Styling tip: Pair a curved lounge with a linear sideboard or shelving unit so the room doesn’t feel one-note.

Concept 5

What’s Out – faux plants or token greenery

What’s In – Biophilic accents – real plants that integrate with daily life

Greenery isn’t new, but the treatment is getting more thoughtful.

Instead of a single faux fiddle leaf here and there, designers are mixing real plants of varying heights and textures to bring life into spaces.

Styling tip: Build a plant corner with a tall palm or dracaena, a mid-size fern, and a low trailing plant. Choose pots with natural materials — clay, terracotta or stone.

Concept 6

What’s Out – traditional use of rugs only under sofas

What’s In – textural rugs in unconventional spots – layered rugs and rugs in unexpected places

Layering rugs – a jute rug under a patterned wool rug, for example adds a collected feeling.

Designers are also placing rugs in spots like hallways, kitchens, and bedrooms to define zones and add softness.

Styling tip: Use a runner in a long hallway or layer a small statement rug over a larger natural-fibre base.

Concept 7

What’s Out – fast, trend-driven décor

What’s In – genuine craft and artisanal touches – handmade, locally crafted pieces

There’s a renewed appreciation for craftsmanship.

Hand-thrown ceramics, hand-woven textiles, custom joinery.

Pieces that tell stories owners can connect with.

Concept 8

What’s Out – rooms with one single, fixed function

What’s In – flexible spaces that work harder – multi-purpose living areas

Spaces need to do more these days.

Stylists are creating spaces that flex – a living room that doubles as a workspace, a bedroom that feels like a retreat and has a creative nook.

Styling tip: use subtle zoning – a rug, lighting, or some form of screening to separate functions without building walls.

To wrap up

Interior styling in 2026 is showing signs that styling isn’t about rigid rules or reactive trends. It’s about spaces that feel warm, curated, personal and functional.

There’s a definite trend of moving away from sterile minimalism and filler décor, and leaning into depth, meaning, and comfort without excess.

If you’re refreshing a space this year, start with texture, colour that feels intentional, and objects that matter. That combination will help keep your space feeling current and genuinely inviting.

Have fun with it!

The Great Summer Sleep Debate: Linen vs. Bamboo vs. Cotton – Which Bedding Will Keep You Cool?

In Australia, the difference between a good night’s sleep and a restless, sweaty mess often comes down to one thing: your bedding.

As soon as the humidity creeps in, we begin the essential search for the perfect sheet set.

But with so many natural fabrics flooding the market, how do you choose the right one? While bamboo and cotton offer short-term comfort, one fabric reigns supreme when it comes to true, long-lasting cooling: Linen.

We break down the three heavyweight contenders of summer bedding to show why linen is the ultimate choice for a blissful night’s rest.

1. Undisputed Champion: Linen

Derived from the resilient flax plant, linen is not just a sheet; it’s a long-term investment in genuine sleep quality. It is the undisputed heavyweight champion when it comes to thermal regulation. It’s the only fibre that truly improves with age and wash when well cared for.

It’s also the most sustainable bedding fabric. The whole of the flax plant is used, it uses less water to grow than cotton and bamboo and little to no pesticides.

The Linen Takeaway:

Linen is the choice for the natural hot sleeper and the savvy investor. The wrinkled look is a feature, not a fault. It’s the sign of a relaxed, breezy structure that keeps you cool when the temperature climbs.

2. Classic Contender (With Caveats): Cotton

Cotton is the most familiar bedding material. It can offer excellent value, but its cooling abilities are dependent on a very specific weave. It often absorbs and retains sweat, leading to that sticky, damp feeling in the peak of summer.

The Cotton Takeaway:

If budget is the primary concern, seek out 100% long-staple cotton with a Percale weave. It can feel cool and crisp but be prepared for it to feel damp during the worst of the summer humidity.

3. Silky Smoothie (The Processed Option): Bamboo Viscose

Bamboo is popular for its luxuriously soft, silky texture. However, it’s important to note that bamboo fibre is typically heavily processed (often into viscose or rayon) before it can become bedding, losing some of the “natural” benefits.

The Bamboo Takeaway:

Choose bamboo if you absolutely prioritise a silky, smooth texture over all else. It’s a great middle ground but lacks the genuine rugged, long-term durability and superior thermal regulation of linen.

The overall verdict: linen wins the great summer sleep debate

For enduring comfort, sustainability, and superior cooling, the verdict is clear. Linen is the best bedding investment you can make for an Australian home.

No matter your choice, ensure you are buying from a reputable retailer who specifies the quality and source of the material. A good sheet set isn’t a luxury – it’s a necessity!

1. Undisputed Champion: Linen

Derived from the resilient flax plant, linen is not just a sheet; it’s a long-term investment in genuine sleep quality. It is the undisputed heavyweight champion when it comes to thermal regulation. It's the only fibre that truly improves with age and wash when well cared for.

It's the sign of a relaxed, breezy structure that keeps you cool when the temperature climbs.

However, it's important to note that bamboo fibre is typically heavily processed (often into viscose or rayon) before it can become bedding, losing some of the "natural" benefits.

The Bamboo Takeaway:

Choose bamboo if you absolutely prioritise a silky, smooth texture over all else. It's a great middle ground but lacks the genuine rugged, long-term durability and superior thermal regulation of linen.

With the escalating cost of buying a property in Australia, the move towards long-term rental living continues to increase…so how do you make a rental feel like home without breaking the rules?

Renting can sometimes feel like you’re in someone else’s space, but it certainly doesn’t need to feel that way.

With restrictions on painting walls, hanging shelves, or making big changes, it’s easy to think your home has to stay plain and temporary. But there are plenty of renter-friendly ways to create a space that feels like you – without risking your bond.

Here are some simple, budget-friendly ideas.

1. Switch up soft furnishings

Property owners typically have control of the walls and carpets, but you decide what you bring in. Bedding, cushions, rugs, and throws can completely transform a space. Choose natural fabrics – like 100% linen – for a relaxed, sustainable choice that suits our Australian climate.

Rugs cover tired flooring and add warmth.

100% linen bedding adds instant luxury – it keeps you cosy on cool nights and cool on warm nights.

Layering cushions and throws for texture and style can significantly change the look of a space.

2. Add plants (even if you don’t have a green thumb!)

Indoor plants can make a huge difference in softening a space.

Hardy options like Snake plants (Sansevieria), Monstera and Zanzibar plants do well in Aussie indoor conditions.

If natural light is limited inside, try Zanzibar plants – they are extremely hardy and don’t require much water – excellent!

3. Play with lighting

Many rental properties come with quite bright downlights or dated fittings. While you can’t rewire, you can work around it.

Add floor lamps or table lamps to create soft, warm pools of light.

LED strips are renter-friendly and removable.

Smart bulbs are a small investment that let you adjust warmth and brightness without touching the fixtures.

4. Use removable wall solutions

If your rental agreement doesn’t allow more permanent art fittings, Command hooks and removable strips can be your best friends. They let you hang art, mirrors, or shelves without leaving a mark.

Test first in a less obvious spot to be sure and take notice of weight load restrictions. Mirrors and art leaning on the floor or cabinetry tops can also look fabulous.

Try a gallery wall of prints or framed photos.

Add a piece of wall art you love that adds style, colour or depth to a space.

An oversized piece of art or a mirror not only looks stylish but also can make a smaller space feel bigger.

5. Upgrade some small things

Even without renovations, you can swap out a few everyday items for a fresh look.

If you are planning on staying long-term, replace cupboard handles with stylish ones (just keep the originals to swap back before your lease ends).

Add fresh towels and bathroom accessories for an instant bathroom refresh.

In the kitchen, display attractive chopping boards, ceramics, or glass jars filled with dry goods.

6. Personalise with scent

Scent is powerful – it’s often the first thing people notice when they enter your home. Candles, diffusers, or fresh flowers create a signature feel that makes your space instantly more inviting.

7. Embrace portable pieces

If you’re renting long-term, invest in quality furniture and décor that you can take with you when you move. Think neutral sofas, linen bedding, versatile dining tables, statement lamps, and unique ceramic pieces. These pieces travel with you, so you’re building a home wherever you live.

Final thoughts

Being in a rental property can sometimes feel temporary or generic, but with a few smart, renter-friendly tweaks, you can make your space stylish, personal and very much your home. Focus on the elements you can change – textiles, lighting, art, and small details – and you’ll create a home that reflects your personality without risking your bond.

Because, at the end of the day, home isn’t about ownership – it’s about how a space makes you feel.

Linen love – why natural textiles are in. There’s a quiet revolution happening in homes everywhere. It’s not loud or flashy – it’s soft, breathable, and beautifully textured.

From bedrooms to living rooms, natural textiles like linen are becoming the go-to choice for those who value style, comfort, and conscious living.

Welcome to the world of Linen Love – a movement where timeless material meets modern life.

Why Linen? The Fabric of (Real) Life

Linen has been around for thousands of years, but it’s having a moment – and for good reason. Made from the flax plant, 100% linen is natural, sustainable, biodegradable, and incredibly durable.

Here’s why more people are swapping cotton and bamboo for 100% natural linen.

Breathability You Can Feel

Whether it’s linen bedding or light-filtering curtains, the open weave of linen allows for better airflow, helping regulate body temperature all year round. Linen bed sheets keep you cool in summer and warm in winter—it’s the fabric that works with your body, not against it.

Having natural temperature regulating and moisture wicking properties, linen is excellent for hot sleepers.

Sustainability Without Sacrifice…yes please

Linen is one of the most eco-friendly, sustainable textiles you can buy. The flax plant uses less water and fewer pesticides than cotton and bamboo and every part of the flax plant is used – making waste virtually non-existent. So, when you choose 100% linen, you’re doing the planet (and your home) a favour.

Hypoallergenic & Kind to Skin

Linen is naturally hypoallergenic, antibacterial, and moisture-wicking. It’s perfect for sensitive skin and anyone looking to create a calming, chemical-free sleep space. It also keeps those nasty dust mites away!

Effortless Texture & Timeless Style

Linen’s natural crinkles and relaxed finish have become a signature look in designed interiors. Whether it’s a rumpled duvet cover, a softly draped curtain, or a linen-covered cushion, it brings warmth, soul, and that elusive “undone elegance” designers love.

Grows Softer with Every Wash and with Use

One of the best things about linen? It gets better with age. The more you wash it and use it, the softer it becomes – without losing strength or shape. It’s the opposite of fast fashion—it’s slow, intentional comfort that lasts for years.

Where to Use Linen in Your Home?

It’s not just for the bed (although nothing beats sinking into beautiful 100% French flax linen sheets). Here’s where linen is making waves:

Bedding – sheets, duvet covers, pillowcases.

Curtains – light-filtering and effortlessly elegant.

Cushion covers & throws – adds cosy texture to sofas & beds.

Table linen – rustic yet refined dining.

Robes – wrap yourself in feel-good luxury that breathes.

Fall in Love with Natural Living

Choosing linen is more than a design decision—it’s a lifestyle one. It’s about embracing imperfection, slowing down, and surrounding yourself with materials that breathe, soften, and last. In a world of fast everything, linen invites you to rest, feel, and reconnect.

Linen Love isn’t a trend. It’s a return to what feels right.

Biophilic design is a major trend in architecture right now, but it’s more than a passing fad and an awarded design technique. It’s becoming a core design philosophy, especially in wellness-focused, sustainable, and future-forward building projects.

Biophilic design is all about bringing the outdoors in with plants, light & nature-inspired textiles.

No, we’re not taking a blast back to the past…in today’s fast-paced, screen-heavy world, there’s a growing longing for something softer, quieter, and more grounded in the spaces we spend time in.

Enter biophilic design – a design philosophy embedded in our innate connection to nature. More than a trend, it’s a way of designing spaces that help us feel calmer, sleep better, and live more meaningfully – all by bringing the outdoors in.

But what exactly is biophilic design? And how do you make it work in your home? Read on!

What is Biophilic Design?

The word “biophilia” means “love of life” or “love of nature.” Biophilic design is the art of incorporating natural elements into the places we live and work to support our wellbeing.

It’s not about building a jungle in your living room (though, go for it if that’s your vibe!). It’s about using plants, light, textures, materials, and colours to create spaces that feel alive, calming, and connected to the natural world.

Why It Matters More Than Ever

Studies show that, on average, individuals now spend approximately 90% of their time indoors. That disconnect from nature has been linked to increased stress, poor sleep, and even decreased creativity. Biophilic design can help address that by:

Boosting mood and reducing anxiety.

Enhancing focus and creativity.

Supporting deeper rest and relaxation.

Making homes feel more soulful and lived in.

How do You Start Implementing Elements of Biophilic Design?

Here are some easy and beautiful ways to bring biophilic design into your home:

1. Indoor Plants

From leafy figs to low-maintenance snake plants, greenery instantly softens a room and helps to purify the air. Even one plant adds life and vibrancy.

Tip: Cluster plants in different heights and textures for a lush, layered feel.

2. Natural Light

Let the sunlight in. Open your curtains wide, swap heavy blinds for sheer drapes, and consider adding mirrors to reflect daylight throughout your home.

Tip: Arrange your most-used spaces – like reading nooks or desks – near windows to boost your daily dose of sunshine.

3. Nature-Inspired Textiles

Choose textiles made from natural fibres like linen. Consider earthy tones – natural, warm white, caramels, charcoal.

4. Think About Raw, Organic Materials

Swap out synthetic or glossy surfaces for timber, stone, clay, jute, as well as reclaimed materials. These not only look beautiful but also add natural warmth and texture.

5. Incorporate Sights, Sounds & Scents of Nature

Consider a small water feature with lilies or with a soft, calming water sound.

Use essential oils, room sprays or natural candles with earthy scents like eucalyptus, cedarwood, or wild orange to bring stunning scents that support a biophilic space.

Biophilic Bedrooms & Bathrooms

These are the spaces where biophilic design really shines.

In the bedroom, try:

Soft, breathable, hypoallergenic 100% linen sheets.

A well-placed stylish plant.

A sunrise alarm clock or sheer blinds for gentle light wake-ups.

In the bathroom, think:

Bamboo/natural wood accessories.

Stone soap dishes.

Australian natural botanical body care products.

Biophilic Design isn’t Just About Creating a Beautiful Space

It’s about creating a nourishing environment. One that reminds you to breathe. To slow down. To reconnect with what really matters while still looking designed and stylish.

Whether it’s a leafy plant in the corner, sunlight on linen sheets, or the gentle rustle of natural fabric sheer curtains allowing sunlight in – bringing the outdoors in is one of the simplest ways to bring more joy and peace into our everyday life.

When looking to style up your space, consider how you might incorporate elements of biophilic design – your soul will thank you for it.

Let the sunlight in. Open your curtains wide, swap heavy blinds for sheer drapes, and consider adding mirrors to reflect daylight throughout your home.

When we think about luxury at home, we don’t just think about expensive furniture or high-end finishes, we believe it’s about creating a space that feels elevated, intentional, and effortlessly stylish. Here are 8 design tips for a luxurious feeling at home.

Whether you’re designing from scratch or looking to enhance your existing interiors, these top tips may help you create spaces that exude sophistication and comfort.

1.Large Rugs – the foundation of luxury

A well-placed rug has the power to transform a space, making it feel larger, more cohesive, and undeniably stylish. A rug acts as the anchor of a room, connecting all the furniture elements together and creating a seamless visual flow. Key design principles to keep in mind:

The rug should always be wider than your sofa/piece of furniture to avoid a floating, disconnected look.

Ensure that at least the front legs of your sofa sit on the rug for a cohesive feel.

Circular rugs can be a clever choice for small spaces, defining areas like reading nooks, corners with an armchair, or an entryway with a console table.

A luxurious rug not only enhances aesthetics but also adds warmth and texture underfoot, making your space feel inviting.

2.Statement Lighting – elevate the mood

Lighting is a fundamental, yet often overlooked, aspect of interior design. A statement pendant light, sculptural chandelier, or a designer floor lamp instantly draws attention and elevates your space. To achieve a well-balanced and luxurious ambiance:

Layer different lighting sources: overhead lighting, wall sconces, table lamps, and candles.

Opt for warm, dimmable lighting to create a cosy and elegant atmosphere.

Consider materials like brushed brass, glass, or linen shades to add texture and sophistication.

3.Mix Textures for Depth and Interest

A luxurious home generally invites tactility. Mixing different textures creates a layered and visually rich space. Think French flax linen bedding, velvet cushions, boucle or leather chairs, marble accents, and natural wood finishes.

Combine soft textiles with structured materials, a linen-covered sofa paired with a sleek brass coffee table creates a stunning contrast.

Play with matte and glossy finishes to add dimension and depth to your interiors.

4.Curated Styling Over Clutter

Luxury is about intentionality versus excess. Avoid filling your space with countless decorative items, but rather, curate meaningful pieces that tell a story. Often, less is more when it comes to high-end styling.

Use decorative trays to organise items on coffee tables and consoles.

Incorporate a few standout pieces, like an artisanal vase for instance the Desmond and Joe vases have a stunning organic shape and work perfectly together, sculptural candleholders, or a striking piece of pottery.

Stick to a cohesive colour palette for a polished, sophisticated look.

5.Floor-to-Ceiling Curtains – the ultimate elegance

Drapery can make or break a room. Floor-to-ceiling curtains create the illusion of taller ceilings and can bring an elegant finish to your space.

Opt for linen or sheer curtains for an airy, relaxed vibe or heavier draped fabric for a grand, opulent look.

Aim to hang curtains high, placing the rod just below the ceiling maximises the visual height of the room.

6.Luxe Bedding – the five-star experience

Nothing says luxury like a bed beautifully made with 100% French flax linen. To achieve that effortlessly chic, high-end look:

Use a mix of neutral and muted tones for a serene and inviting feel.

Layer textures, combine linen with cashmere and soft cotton throws and plush cushions.

Keeping styling on the bed relaxed, yet refined, with minimal folds and casually draped layers can look so inviting.

Lean framed prints against walls for a relaxed yet refined look.

Mix modern prints with vintage finds for a balanced, collected-over-time feel.

8.Signature Scents – a multi-sensory approach

Luxury isn’t just visual, it’s about how a space feels and smells. A signature home scent can instantly lift your environment.

Opt for candles, diffusers, or room sprays with notes of sandalwood, white tea, bergamot, verbena, or citrus.

Scent layering (e.g., linen sprays + candles) creates an immersive experience.

Open shelves are typically more than just storage; they’re an opportunity to showcase your personality and create a visually appealing focal point in your home. Shelf styling secrets: maximise impact and minimise clutter.

So, how do you go from cluttered chaos to curated perfection?

Let’s dive into some tips and tricks on the art of shelf styling.

Start with a Blank Canvas

Clear Everything Off – empty your shelves completely. This allows you to see the space with fresh eyes and visualise potential arrangements.

Clean and Dust – give your shelves a thorough cleaning. This will ensure your displayed items shine.

The Power of Balance

Vary Heights and Shapes – create visual interest by incorporating items of different heights, shapes, and textures. Unique ceramics are a stylish way to add interest. Avoid placing all tall items on one side or all small items together.

Create Visual Triangles – arrange items in triangular formations to create a sense of balance and flow. This technique draws the eye and creates a polished and intentional composition.

Distribute Weight Evenly – avoid placing all heavy items on one shelf. Distribute them evenly to create a balanced look.

Tell a Story

Personal Touches – incorporate personal items that reflect your interests and passions. This could include travel souvenirs, family photos, or cherished collections.

Themed Displays – consider creating themed displays based on your hobbies, interests, colour preferences or the season.

Books as Décor – stack books with interesting/visually appealing covers and spines horizontally and vertically, combining them with decorative objects.

The Art of Layering

Create Depth – layer items in front of and behind each other to create depth and dimension.

Use Backdrops – lean artwork and framed photos against the back of the shelves to add visual interest.

Vary Textures – combine items with different textures, such as smooth ceramics, rough wood, and glass. Willow wood trays with unique ceramics add interesting layers.

Less is More – Usually

Edit Ruthlessly – don’t be afraid to edit your collection. Choose only the items you truly love and that contribute to the overall aesthetic.

Negative Space – leave some empty space on your shelves to create a sense of balance and avoid clutter.

Group Items Strategically – group similar items together to create a cohesive look.

Practical Considerations

Accessibility – place frequently used items within easy reach.

Weight Limits – depending on your shelving unit, be mindful of the weight limits of your shelves to prevent accidents.

Functionality – if your shelves are in a functional area like an office/study space, prioritise organisation and accessibility.

Experiment and Have Fun!

Don’t be afraid to experiment with different arrangements – shelf styling is an ongoing process and can always be changed.

Take images of different arrangements – get inspiration from others to see what appeals to you most. Create a mood board before you start.

Remember, there are no hard and fast rules – The most important thing is to create a display that you love looking at.

To wrap up…

With a little thought and some style suggestions, you can transform your open shelves from cluttered storage to stylish showcases and really add style to your space.

Be considered and edit, edit, edit until you can stand back and love what you see. Experiment and have fun.

Happy styling!

A Guide to Selecting Art for Your Home

Finding your perfect piece – art has the power to transform a house into a home. It adds personality, colour, and a touch of soul to any space. So, how do you choose the right art for your home?

Here’s a guide that may help you navigate the exciting world of art selection.

Define Your Style

What kind of atmosphere do you want to create?

Relaxing and serene? Bold and dramatic?

Modern and minimalist? Warm and inviting?

What are your personal preferences? Do you gravitate towards abstract art, photography, landscapes, or portraits?

Are you drawn to vibrant colours or muted tones?

Consider the Space

Be mindful of size and scale. The size of the artwork should be proportionate to the wall space.

A small piece can get lost on a large wall, while a large piece can overwhelm a small space.

Consider the existing colour scheme of the room. Choose art that complements or contrasts with the colours of your walls, furniture, and other decor.

Think about how the light will fall on the artwork. Will it be direct sunlight or softer, indirect light?

Explore Different Options

Support local talent by visiting local art galleries and studios.

Explore online galleries and art marketplaces that offer a wide range of art from emerging and established artists.

Discover hidden gems at affordable prices in thrift stores and consignment shops.

Unleash your creativity with DIY projects like painting, photography, or creating collages.

Trust Your Intuition

In the end, the most important factor is to choose art that you truly love.

Does it evoke a strong emotional response?

Does it tell a story?

Does it bring you joy?

Don’t Be Afraid to Experiment

Try different arrangements and see what looks best.

Don’t be afraid to mix and match styles and create an eclectic gallery wall.

Remember, your home should reflect your unique personality and style.

Seek out an expert

If you are still building confidence in your art choices, consider speaking with an expert who can guide you on the selection of your first few pieces.

Summing up

Ultimately, it’s important that you love and are inspired by the art you bring into your home. Being considerate about the pieces you acquire no matter what their purchase value is, will help ensure that when you see it every day, you will be happy you brought it into your space.

Choosing the right linen sheet sets doesn’t need to be a daunting experience – this ultimate guide might help.

100% French flax Linen sheets are known for their breathable comfort, durability, and timeless appeal. However, with a variety of options available, choosing the right linen sheet sets can feel overwhelming.

Here’s a guide to help you make the best choice for your needs, preferences, and style.

1. The first step is understanding why the choice of linen is a good one

Before diving into the specifics on how to choose the right linen sheet set for you, it can help your decision by knowing why linen is such a popular choice for bedding.

No more night sweats – that’s a big one
Linen naturally adjusts to body temperature, keeping you cool in summer and cosy in winter. This is a huge bonus all year round for those who tend to run hot when sleeping.

Additionally – linen is moisture-wicking
It can absorb up to 20% of its weight in moisture before feeling damp – another tick for hot sleepers.

Invest in 100% French flax linen – invest in the environment
Flax, the source of linen, is a sustainable crop that requires less water, fertiliser and pesticides compared to cotton making it a great sustainable choice.

The whole flax plant is used

the fibre is used to make linen fabric, and the flax seeds are used to make flax seed oil and other natural nutritional supplements

There is very little waste.

Very durable
You should expect your linen bedding to arrive soft & cosy to you and with proper care, it becomes even softer over time and can last for years.

Hypoallergenic
Linen’s natural fibres resist dust mites and allergens which is good for everyone and especially great for people with sensitivities.

2. Next – consider linen quality

Not all linen is created equal. The quality of linen sheets depends on factors like the weight of the fabric and where the flax is sourced.

Fabric weight
Linen weight is typically measured in GSM (grams per square meter). Higher GSM (over 165 GSM) tends to be more durable. A GSM of around 170 offers an ideal weight for linen bedding.

Flax origin
High-quality flax, the plant linen is made from, is grown in areas like France, Belgium, and the Netherlands. Linen from these regions is often stronger and softer due to optimal growing conditions. 100% French flax linen is one of the most popular and sought after linens.

3. Do I need to think about weave and thread count for linen sheets?

Unlike cotton, thread count isn’t as important for linen since it has a looser weave. A plain weave is the most common for 100% linen bedding as it is breathable and durable and gives linen sheets their distinctive texture.

Ensure you are buying 100% pure linen rather than a linen blend.

Choosing pre-washed linen bedding means it will arrive soft and cosy to you.

4. Look for certification and eco-friendly practices

If sustainability is a priority, look for certifications like OEKO-TEX. This certification ensures that the linen was produced without harmful chemicals, which is beneficial for both the environment and your skin.

5. Select the right fit and size

When purchasing linen sheets to fit your mattress size, look for a fitted sheet depth of 40cm to accommodate differing mattress depths.

A generous top hem on the flat sheet also ensures a stylish finished look and envelope opening pillowcases ensure that you don’t ever have pesky pillows escaping – nobody wants that!

6. Decide on colour – the fun part!

Simplifying the colour choice of your sheet sets will mean that your selections will last for many years, you will always use them, and their stylish tones will look amazing in any bedroom décor year after year.

Buying faddish patterns and colours in linen bedding can be expensive – you potentially end up with colours and patterns that you have fallen out of love with and no longer use.

Simplifying to neutral hues and earthy tones for your sheet sets is very stylish.

Neutral hue sheet sets
Consider soft almost white and gentle light grey colours to pair well with any other colour to bring calm and style to your sleep space.

Earthy tone sheet sets
Think dark grey and charcoal for a more contemporary, cosy look that brings warmth and style to the space.

7. Maintenance and Care

100% French flax linen bedding is relatively low maintenance, but some tips can help you extend its lifespan.

Washing
Wash linen in warm water with a gentle cycle and avoid harsh detergents and bleaches that can weaken fibres.

Drying
We suggest a low warm gentle heat setting (a hot setting may cause shrinkage) on your tumble dryer. If you prefer to dry your linen bedding naturally, as for any natural fabric, be sure to hang it out in the shade to prolong use and avoid sun damage.

Ironing
Linen has a relaxed look that doesn’t require ironing; however, you can choose to iron for a smoother finish if desired.

It isn’t just about the table setting & delicious food.

With the warm weather rolling in, are you summer-entertaining ready? Here are some tips to create an inviting space that is comfortable and stylish for entertaining all summer season.

When entertaining at home over summer, we, quite rightly, invest lots of time focusing on how the table will look and planning the wonderous food that will sit on it. But there’s more to the story – ensuring your garden spaces are looking fresh and full, is also an important part of summer home entertaining and your guests will admire your efforts!

Here are some tips & tricks to help set up your perfect home outdoor entertaining garden spaces.

Prep and Prune for a Fresh Start

Invest some time to tidy up your garden beds. Remove weeds, dead plants, and overgrowth, and give shrubs and hedges a trim to create a clean backdrop for your space.

If your garden is looking a little sparse, add a few more plants for a fuller, lusher look. There are many low maintenance plants available that look great and don’t need as much attention – we love that!

Adding a layer of mulch to your garden bed will help retain moisture in the heat and will give your garden beds a polished look. If your soil is looking tired, consider adding compost or nutrient-rich fertilisers designed for plants in an Australian summer. Talk to an expert to get the right one – your plants will love you for it.

Don’t forget, plants love a little bit of water!

Add Shade for Comfort

Australia’s summer sun can be intense, so creating shaded areas is key for daytime entertaining. A pergola or shade sail is great for larger gardens and as a more permanent solution, while umbrellas provide a more economical solution and flexible shade that you can move as needed.

If you have trees, consider setting up seating or a hammock underneath for a natural, shaded spot.

Create Multiple Seating Zones

Having distinct areas for dining, lounging, and mingling can make your garden feel more spacious and functional. Consider modular outdoor furniture that’s durable and weather-resistant to withstand the Australian climate.

Adding outdoor cushions and throws can add comfort and style while standing up to the outdoor elements. For a more economical solution, floor cushions and picnic blankets are great for setting up a casual, relaxed vibe.

Add Some Evening Light

These days there are lots of great options for creating ambience with lighting in gardens and outdoor entertaining spaces.

You don’t need to invest a lot of money to add a touch of style and ambience to evening entertaining outdoors. Solar-powered lights are particularly suited to Australia’s sunny climate, providing soft illumination at night.

Candles in lanterns or LED candles are perfect for tabletops and for scattering safely in the garden. Be creative, add soft light, your space will look and feel special.

Add Extra Touches for Ambiance

Consider adding decor items like cushions, woven rugs, or unique table settings. Add an outdoor speaker for some background music to set the vibe, and don’t forget citronella candles or bug repellent to keep pesky insects at bay.

With that in mind, did you know that scented oils such as lemon eucalyptus, lavender, thyme, peppermint and lemongrass are said to be offensive to flies and mosquitoes? That might be helpful!

Having a couple of scent diffusers around while in your outdoor space with your favourite scent (or one that flies and mosquitoes don’t like) is another way to create ambience, especially when the breeze carries the scent throughout your gathering.

In summary

With a few of these tips, you can transform your garden and outdoor entertaining space and not only will you wow your guests with your fabulous table setting and delicious food, you will impress them with your thoughtfully styled space and fresh looking garden.

To flat sheet or not to flat sheet, that is the question?

In this article we explore Sheet Dreams…why adding a flat sheet to your bed can be a game-changer!

When it comes to making your bed, the debate between using a flat sheet or skipping it entirely often arises.

Some argue for the simplicity of only using a fitted sheet and a duvet. Others swear by the added comfort and practical benefits of including a flat sheet in their bedding ensemble.

Here’s why you might consider using a flat sheet on your bed.

1. Enhanced Comfort and Versatility

A flat sheet is a versatile layer that can enhance comfort in multiple ways.

It acts as a barrier between you and your duvet, and if it’s 100% French flax linen, it provides a soft, breathable layer that can adjust to different temperatures.

During warmer nights, it can be used on its own for lightweight coverage and on cooler nights, it adds an extra insulating layer beneath your duvet.

2. Improved Sleep Quality

With the added comfort and temperature regulation abilities that a flat sheet can provide, you may find that you sleep more comfortably throughout the night.

If you sleep in 100% French flax linen sheets, you can say goodbye to night sweats – they keep you cool on warm nights and cosy on cooler nights.

This can lead to better sleep quality, helping you wake up feeling refreshed and well-rested.

3. Protects Your Bedding

One of the more practical benefits of using a flat sheet is that it helps protect your other bedding, such as the duvet cover, and can extend the wash cycle of your duvet cover by reducing the frequency of needing to wash it.

This can be helpful being a bulkier item.

4. Personal Preference

Ultimately, whether to use a flat sheet or not comes down to personal preference.

Some people find it adds an extra level of comfort and cosiness, while others may prefer the minimalism of only a fitted sheet and duvet.

Experimenting with different bedding configurations can help you find what works best for your sleeping habits and comfort.

So, Sheet Dreams Everyone!

While the decision to use a flat sheet on your bed is a matter of personal choice, it offers some practical benefits that can be a game-changer and enhance your sleeping experience.

Whether you’re looking to protect your bedding investment or simply enjoy the added layer of comfort, incorporating a flat sheet into your bedding setup can be a simple yet effective way to elevate your sleep environment and to get you closer to sweet dreams. Explore suki. 100% French flax linen bedding.
